SDB BANK WINS 3 PRESTIGIOUS AWARDS AT THE ASIAN BANKING AND FINANCE AWARDS 2019
SDB bank emerged victorious with 3 outstanding awards at the recently concluded Asian Banking and Finance Awards 2019 held at the Shangri-La – Singapore. The event, annually organized by the Asian Banking and Finance Magazine, is among the largest and most significant of its kind, with entrants competing in 3 distinct financial categories, namely Wholesale Banking, Retail Banking and Corporate and Investment Banking. At the 8th edition of Asia Banking and Finance Awards, over 100 banks from 37 countries were recognized for their exceptional performance in these three categories.
SDB bank’s outstanding performance with three momentous accolades came under the Retail Banking Category. The awards included the Financial Inclusion Initiative of the Year, Advertising Campaign of the Year and Rural/Cooperative Bank of the Year awards.
Financial Inclusion Initiative of the Year Award was granted to SDB bank for the ‘SDB UTHTHAMAVI’ venture which set out to empower thousands of Sri Lankan women in rural communities by improving the quality of their lives, enhancing their skills and giving them a pathway to self-sufficiency through their own resourcefulness.
The bank was recognized with the Rural/ Co-Operative Bank of the Year Award for their continued excellent performance in the sector as showcased by the ‘Samupa Saviya’ and ‘Cooperative Top Saver’ initiatives.
The prestigious Advertising Campaign of the Year Awards was granted to SDB bank for their BTL campaign titled ‘MILLIONAPATHY WARAMA’ to promote the ‘AYOJANA’ initiative, aimed to inculcate the habit of saving and investment especially among the lower socio-economic tiers of the country.
